Great post this week Jadrian. Do you read more fiction or non-fiction? Have you posted a list of your favorite books from the past year? If Gates and Obama are doing it, why not you?

I'm in the middle of James Clear's Atomic Habits. One great tip his has early on is to try and identify as the type of person you want to be. Instead of trying to tell yourself you want to read more, try telling yourself you want to be a reader. Then, decisions you make throughout the day will lead to more reading.

If I am a reader, I make time for reading. If I am a reader, I won't get as board as I used to. He tied this to many things, not just reading. Instead of wanting to quit smoking, try to identify as a non-smoker. Instead of wanting to work out more, try to identify as a healthy person.

I think we can bring a lot of this to students. Can we convince our students who want to do better to identify as good students? Maybe.

HT to Bill Goffe for introducing me to the book. Thanks again for your weekly writing, Jadrian.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve been trying 30

Min before I sleep. Not as consistent as I would like but it’s better than before. Also, funny thing. The graphic on pomodora technique is in my video for this Friday. Great minds think alike
